Who wouldn't be inspired by the grandeur of Norway? Once you experience magnificent fjords in western Norway, you're left in a state of awe and wonder as you begin to sense the awesome power of nature at work. Suddenly you come to realize why Norway's fjords have inspired artists for centuries— majestic glacial valleys with crystal blue waters cradled by soaring mountains; this land steeped in legend and lore, not to mention the stuff of Disney dreams. So, it's no surprise that Disney sought out Visit Norway during production of its latest animated feature-film, "Frozen," to help bring to life this comedy epic that combines lovable Disney characters with a Norwegian accent, and the wondrous settings of Norway!

Hilarious trailer from the upcoming film:

Personally, I am thrilled because for the first time ever, Norway will be into the spotlight, and just having returned from a grand journey of the Norwegian fjords with Visit Norway, I can personally attest to the film's astonishing achievement by the Disney animation team in bringing to life Norway's scenic splendor!! Had Arendelle been on my itinerary, I certainly would have visited this enchanted kingdom. Alas, it's the stuff of fairy tales, but realistic nonetheless because when the film's script called for ice and snow, castles and mountains, Disney realized that Norway had it all.

“We wanted to create an intimate world with an enchanting and dynamic setting that would be immediately identifiable for generations to come,” says Mike Giaimo, art director for the film. “Norway offered a cultural backdrop we’d never explored before and we thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be great to blend its dramatic natural environment, architecture and folk costume aesthetic?’ It feels like a world from a classic Disney film, but it’s completely new.”

When Disney's behemoth marketing machine kicks into high gear, supplemented by social-media efforts and a dedicated "Frozen" special section on VisitNorway.com, Disney will generate not only a box-office boon, but Norway will bolster its tourism industry tremendously! And, when the film ends its theatrical run, the phoenix will rise again when it's released on Blu-ray DVD—thus sustaining the momentum even longer!

“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to promote Norway as a wonderful tourist destination,” says Per-Arne Tuftin, director of tourism at Innovation Norway. “Disney is well-known around the world, and we hope that in providing the backdrop to this film, Norway will appeal to the film’s fans—viewers of all ages who will be inspired to visit Norway and explore our beautiful country in the years ahead.”

Disney's "Frozen" opens in theatres Nov. 27, 2013.

  8. I'll probably go back in the late spring. Unfortunately I will not get to see the western fjords that I love so much, but a week or two in the Oslo area will do good.
Norway is the most beautiful country that God ever put together.
